English Purpose of this subforum
Re: Purpose of this subforum
Hi Gabi,
thank you for mentioning the Celtic Mahjong. I didn´t know this game - but tried
it at once. That might be a new hobby for me! It`s really funny.
If you are interested in English chatting you can go into the chatroom "Bistro/Pub"
on Sunday at 9 p. m. You will meet there people from Canada, USA and Switzerland f. e.
When I was there for the first time I had some difficulties to write in English
because I needed some time to find the right words. So - when I knew what to write
the other people had already another theme! Meanwhile I just write what I think - even
if there are mistakes in the text.
As to the "Linktipp" - I don`t use it at all. Normally you can add special
information to your contribution which is shown when readers go on "Linktipp".
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Regina,
it`s nice to read from you here quite often! I am sure your English will become
better and better! You will surely have much fun with your e-book-reader. As
I already mentioned my daughter bought one and I tried it. It was not so very
difficult to handle. You will learn to read with it soon. It really is a help
for holidays and so on.
Your description of your walks with your dog made me laugh! I tried to imagine
how both of you look when you return - rather black! Who is going into the bathroom
the first?? But what do you prefer - muddy fields or an ice area? Muddy fields
are not so dangerous.
This evening I baked some cookies. On Sunday afternoon my friend and her husband will come
to play "Uno" with us. Each time we meet we just have some coffee and no special cakes
but some cookies. And today I felt like baking. I also made some biscuits with special
sugar for my husband who is a diabetic. I hope they will taste delicious.
I am looking forward to your next writing!
Have a nice weekend.
Kind regards,
Dörte

Good evening Herta,
it surely will be a good practice for you to write here in English. Why did you
decide to go into a "Senioren-Residenz"? Couldn`t you manage it any longer all
by yourself? It is fine that you enjoy living there and it is so good that you
participate in all the possibilities they offer you. My mother and my mother-in-law
lived in such a residence, too. I know that the residents get offers to do
different things. But I also know that many of them just sit in their rooms
without doing anything. So I am very pleased that you are so interested in
learning new things - even if you are not so young any longer! By this way
you won`t become old!
It doesn`t matter if only a few participants belong to the conversation course.
So each of you learns a bit more. I am sure you will enjoy these hours.
Have a nice weekend

Re: Purpose of this subforum
Good morning, dear Dörte,
thanks a lot for your information! The line with "Text to the link" must be filled otherwise I cannot send my message. But there are no special adds I have, so I'll go on with an y or xx.
Here for smiling again the next limerick:
There was a young person of Smyrna,
whose grandmother threatened to burn her.
But she seized on the cat
and said: "Granny, burn that!
You inconguous old woman of Smyrna!"
If you are filled up with limericks, please tell me, I'll stop to write.
Just a few moments ago I've been in the chatroom, that's great! I'm curious what will happen tomorrow evening in English conversation chat.
Have a nice weekend!
Fondly Gabi

And I lived near so I could look at her oftener than before. Momentary I'll stop maybe I'llwrite more if I have more ideas what I can write. Till later greetings to you all Regina
Re: Purpose of this subforum
Hello Gabi,
already yesterday I started to answer your PN. But my computer didn`t work right.
It is rather curious that you have to fill in "Text to the link" before you
can write in this forum.
It is fine that you enjoyed the English chat. Last Sunday I came in at 9.45 p. m.
and only Dancelady was still there. Maybe it was too late. Mostly I prefer
to first watch TV and then to come in here. Often the people already leave
the chatroom then. It `s my risk!
As in the French forum it seems as if the first eagerness to write in English
has already gone! And only a few of us stay here... But it is good that you
remind us to write again.
Regina, you are a constant person in this forum, too! By this way you will surely
improve your English knowledge considerably.
Just like you I am looking forward to another contribution of Herta.
Have a nice week.

Re: Purpose of this subforum
Hi Dörte,
last sunday I've left the English chat right this moment you joined it! Dancelady will not be there the next two weeks.
I stopped writing limericks because it seems nobody is really interested. If somebody wants more, please tell me.
My poor cat has got a gums inflammation, and now it has to be scraped under anaesthetic, this will be at the 8th of March. I hope the very best for my 14 years old animal.
Spring will arrive but doesn't has a chance even yet.
Many birds are back already and very hungry. Blackbirds enjoy the meal of apples and raisins and begin to court. Soon they will build a nest.
Now I wish you a nice Thursday and hope to meet you at the English chat on Sunday! I looked at the profiles of the others and now I know a little more.
Warm regards and take care

Dear praline and Ginabeate - Sorry,I´m late with my answer to jou,but in last time I had a lot of dates at the Dr.and
dentist, but now I´ll try to describe jou my life in the
senioren-residenz.
Our hause is not a social adult home. It is a privat home and works like a hotel, jou can also rent rooms for a short
time.Because the don´t get money from social offices it is
mor expensive then public-homes.I´m happy I can manage this
bei myself then my husband und I saved for our age .My
husband died sieben jears ago.
In 1910 I have been for a long time in hospitel and need
help when I leave it.My son offert me to come in the residenz for care and rehabilitation.I was here for 3 weeks
and my experiments during this time were very good.
So I decidet to rent an appartment for ever.I take an empty
room,there was only a kitschennet and a bathroom inside,so
I could furnish it by my own.It is a big, sunny room with
a little wintergarden (glas) and a balcony.I really miss
nothing and feel well here.
I live in an active part of this house and make breafast
and a little snak in the evening by myself. For lunch I prefer to go to our restaurant, there are nice peole to talk
Washing and roomcleaning can jou order or do it jourself.
Our house is in a nice part of Innsbruck and has outside
a little park.Fife minutes away is a tram-station so jou
can drive to the city.Around the hause are a lot of shops
where jou can buy was jou need.
I think I really live in a little paradis and I´m thankful
for it.
friendly regards Herta

Re: Purpose of this subforum
Hi Gabi,
here I am again after some days. I also hope the very best for your cat. Although
I don`t have an animal I can imagine that you feel with it when it is sick.
The last weekend was very variable and interesting for me. On Saturday I went to a concert
by he group "Lalelu" together with my friend. As my husband isn`t interested in
music I always go to concerts with a very good friend. We have already heard
this group several times. They sing self-made songs and also songs of other
musicians in a comedian way. Just like the other times also on Saturday we
were very amused and enjoyed the evening.
On Sunday my daughter and my son-in-law came for dinner to us. Maybe you know
the in northern Germany famous meal "Grünkohl mit Pinkel". That`s what we
ate! Very often groups of several people first make a walk with drinks and
funny plays and then go to a restaurant where this meal is waited at table.
On Sunday we abstained from walking and rightaway had the meal.
Maybe you also spent some interesting days? Perhaps you told the people in the
chat how you spent the weekend. I again preferred to watch TV so that you didn`t
meet me there. I hope you had a nice conversation.
This will do for tonight. So take care of yourself!
Kind regards,
Dörte

Hello Herta,
thanks a lot for describing your life in the senior residence. It sounds as if you
really live in a "paradise". It is great that you enjoy your apartment and the
luxury you can require if you want. It surely is fine that you have the furniture
of your own. So you can really feel at home. Do you often take a walk in the
little park or go by tram into the city?
Are there any offers in the residence what you can do - for example plays or
memory training?
You surely are also looking forward to spring when the sun is shining with
higher temperature. During the last days we have had about 10 degrees - just
a little bit like spring. But there was no sunshine but rain or even fog.
Maybe during the next days we will also see the sun - I really hope so!
