Another theme: "Blur" - in the I-net it only says: some game-stuff.
But "mine" is a tool to save Paßwords.

Hi Rosemarie,

Good to read from you again. Now that you have said what Blur is, basically a password manager, but also a tracker blocker and an identity shield , I know in which direction to search and to think. You didn't say what operating system you use (Microsoft or Apple) nor what browser (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer, etc.) in which case I could have limited my search.

Anyway, you want to get rid of it? Then you may want to look here:
How to uninstall Blur
(You may have to sroll back to the top) On top of the page you find the group: Blur Top FAQs. Here go for: How do I uninstall Blur? (The last question in this block) and follow the instruction for your browser. (If you can't see the Blur icon in Firefox, a solution is also offered.)

Blur installs in your browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, and Internet Explorer) and puts a single, simple button on the toolbar. Clicking the button brings up a small panel that in turn offers access to four major function areas: Accounts, Wallet, Masking, and Tracking. Your private data is all stored locally. So you'd better make sure you save all relevant data (passwords, email addresses etc.) before you uninstall Blur because they will be deleted.

Hope this will be helpful. BTW, thanks for your compliment on my contributions.

good Mprning @ all

This will be one of the last contribution I make here before we leave. I am sure and hope you will carry on the thread.

I am lucky to have a husband who has studied IT.
His main advice is : always and very often make a back up on a external disc. so you can get the last Status back.

Take care all of you

Tank you Federstrich,
for trying to help me with that "Blur-problem". Ever it shows up I am deactivating it in the way you described for a few weeks now. Lately I tried to deinstall it completely by the way you described and it doesn't show up at the moment. I will see if its gone finally. Thank you so much; I am very grateful to you!

As to my other question: When there turn up problems on my computer first of all I start brainstorming: What might be the reason, where does it come from, what have I done wrong. This goes on day and night. It happens that I get up in the middle of the night and have the solution. If not I search for help. My husband isn't any help on computer-systems. So I call my son - he isn't any help either for he is very busy with his job and with his girlfriend. Maybe once a year
he takes the time to check it all over. But if there is an urgent needfor help I call a specialist from my inssurance company, who does some service privately. He is quite good in his job but a bit nerve-racking because he likes to talk his head off (and mine too).
So - brainstorming is the first step.

New question: How do you conquer a problem you have with the internet?

Hi Rosemarie and everyone,
So - brainstorming is the first step.
actually the same with me. I also follow a three-step-approach.

First, I try to identify the problem. Most importantly, does it have to do with the provider (in my case Telekom) or with my computer? It usually is the latter. I'm very satisfied with the service Telekom provides. There has been just one system failure in more than six years now which affected Germany as a whole, not a particular region. So I don't blame them. And even that lasted about six hours only. Apart from that, there has always been stable internet access.
So if there is something wrong, it most likely is on my computers. But that, too, is very rare.

Second, because there is usually an internet connection, I look for a solution to the problem on my computers by typing in the precise problem I have. There usually is a 90% chance that the problem is known and that I can find a solution to the problem in any of the forums and communities.

Third, if the worst comes to the worst, I might either ask someone at work who knows more about IT than I do as long as software and computer handling is concerned. In extreme cases, I take the computer to a specialist's shop and pay for a hardware component to be replaced. Should this happen again, though, I usually buy a new computer because I like state-of-the-art technology and especially the latest software. I'm clearly not one of those who spend their time tinkering with the computer.

Since I'm heavily dependent on a working computer and internet access, I have two laptops and a tablet (plus a hybrid tablet from work), just to make sure I never ever end up being unable to work due to IT problems. That must never happen.

Telecom is my provider, too. And I even had the IT-Soft-Service contract with them at 4.15€/mth for quite a long time. Once I needed some help because my computer always became too slow and even I had no access to the net. But the telephone service was of very little and insufficient use. I had to call at Microsoft-service, which was very expensive and in the end had to have that specialist her who I already mentioned. Then I cancelled that telecom-service. That saves me about 60,-€/year. The amount which I can pay for personal service
and I needn't explain my problems on the telephone.

My question: How does it come that you call yourself "Federstrich"?
This makes me think of a graphical profession, right?

Hi Rosemarie,

By "graphical profession" you mean a graphic designer or even a graphic artist? Well, I wish I had a profession. You may have missed what I wrote about my job earlier on. Take a look at page 63, in "Purpose of this subforum", 05.08.2015 17:10, where I wrote that I didn't have a profession because I had to leave school after nine years to become a metal worker.

I also explained my nickname in that very thread on page 60, 28.07.2015, 17:38 . Let me quote what I wrote:
"As for my own nickname, I have used different ones. That's why I needed a new one here but it should still relate to me as a person to some extent. After some thought I came up with "Federstrich" because, on the one hand, it reflects my own way of writing. On the other hand, there's also a reference to the German phrase "mit einem Federstrich", which means to decide on or to stop something you tend to disagree with rather spontaneously, sometimes even abruptly whenever you feel that what is going on is not worth your while and that you should rather spend your time doing something more rewarding. I don't want to waste any time any more. That's me and that's why I chose it."

As to the service of Telekom, I only meant the provision of stable internet access as such, not the individual service for the end user. Here, people have had different experiences, not just with Telekom but also with other internet providers whose service is not bound to be any better. It seems that it all depends on where you live and what precisely you want. ZDF WISO gives a regular update on all those problems with internet providers across the board.
If I'd been in your position, I'd also have cancelled this contract. It's not worth it. Tailor-made services tend to be quite costly. Often, there is just a loose cable or some other trivial thing for which a technician would often have to spend two hours of travelling and trouble-shooting. The cost-benefit-ratio is frequently off balance for both the provider and the customer. So, well done.

What do you think about going to a Cosmetic Surgeon? Even men seem to get more interested about getting things done making them look younger!

Hi folks, is there anybody out there or am I left talking to myself????

That is a question I haven't answered yet. Well, since I seem to be the only (kind of) man around, I guess I shouldn't shy away from doing that.

For a start, I don't seem to feel an urge like the former(?) "King of Mallorca" and get a Brazilian butt lift (or so the story goes?). That wouldn't help me. As I said earlier on, if women have not been interested in me up until the age of 60, I assume cosmetic surgery of any kind won't help me now. So why should I take the trouble of being operated on? I also admit that I'm afraid of any kind of surgical operation and I consider myself lucky that I have never had to be operated on. Why take the risk of a surgery if nothing is to be gained from it? Clearly, I wouldn't even dream of that.

To be honest, I don't like tattoos either. If at all, I'd prefer a woman as God created her. Women have such wonderful bodies that don't need to be beautified in any way. Frankly, I usually feel pity for women who undergo cosmetic surgery just because a man seems to expect her to do that while he himself probably finds it bizarre to do the same thing assuming that he is attractive even with a beer gut.
So, for me, cosmetic surgery is unacceptable but saying that does not mean that I don't groom myself. Of course, I do. I have always taken care of my body and the way I look but cosmetic surgery is out of the question. In the end, people have to accept me for what I am and how I look.

Next question(asked by an ornamental hermit just to keep it going):
Do you always need other people around you or do you also like being alone sometimes?

Ok, you ask whether I like to be alone or to have people around me. This is a very easy question to answer. I like both. I enjoy it to be aloune. But from time to time I am happy to have a lot of people around me.Depending on my mood.

Because I've no idea what I can ask you especially,( my brain is emty) I ask : which of your hobbies do you like best???

Ginabeate,
A lot more people should have the hobby I most like, because it is really great and very relaxing and calms you down. Do you get it?
I simply love being lazy and I should take a lot more time doing exactly that. Or do you think that can`´t be a hobby?
About the other hobby I wrote in the Thread “Purpose of this forum”. That I like to read is the third thing I like doing. My god, I need more time.
